I live in Morinville Alberta, a small town north of Edmonton. Far enough away to be quiet but close enough to be convenient. I have lived in Morinville for about eight years. I am married with two teenaged children.
I was born in a smallish city in eastern Ontario that went through some tough times in the seventies. My Mom and Dad moved us to the suburbs between Toronto and Hamilton for employment reasons.
I joined the military after experiencing medium to heavy industrial technologies for five years. I just couldn't buy into the pre-determined life that I saw others experiencing. The military took care of any problems with boredom and the mundane.
I was fortunate enough to spend extended periods of time posted to some great Canadian locations. Calgary in the 80's during the Olympics and the success of the Calgary Flames. Petawawa, Ontario during most of the 90's where embracing the outdoors was an important part of my life. The finale in Petawawa before getting posted was moving thousands of sandbags, by hand, in Winnipeg for almost a month in the Spring of 1997. Moving to the Edmonton area in the late 90's turned into a very positive time, involved in scouting, watching my young family grow, and successful making the transition to civilian life early in the new millenium. |
